CAPE MAY - Join plein air painter Joe Sweeney for a Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) painting retreat in Cape May, New Jersey. Experience small town hospitality while painting the landscape/seascape of Cape May, including Cape May Point, the Cove with sweeping vistas, Cape May Lighthouse, and Sunset Beach. Paint efficiently outdoors with tips on choosing a prime location, reading the weather and light at a particular time of day, and setting up a landscape palette. Instruction includes demonstrations and lectures on painting surfaces, materials, compositional drawing and color studies. Morning and evening painting times will leave the afternoons free to relax on the beach – the perfect artist’s getaway. Instruction geared towards oil, acrylic and pastel, but experienced watercolorists are welcome.

Explore more than 3,000 masterpieces, including 181 Renoirs, 69 Cezannes, 59 Matisses, 46 Picassos, 16 Modiglianis, and 7 Van Goghs, plus textiles, metalwork, decorative objects, African scuptures, Native American ceramics and jewelry and Pennsylvania German furniture.
Includes round-trip transportation, museum admission and guided docent tour of the museum. Lunch is on your own. CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE - Have you ever visited the Cape May County Administration building at 6 Moore Road, Crest Haven Complex, in Cape May Court House, right off the Parkway? You should! First, check out the public artwork in the lobby. Second, throughout the month of April, the Cape May County Art League will have a display mounted in the county's display case. It's a good reason to go visit this public space again.
Thankful Thursday at Cold Spring Brewery Pop-Up Art Show and benefit for Art League Scholarship Program
COLD SPRING - All are welcome to enjoy a beer or homemade soda, munch on snacks, meet artists and see Cape May County Art League members' work in a newly renovated 1804 barn, all while helping the Art League raise funds to contribute to the Scholarship Fund for young artists, during Thankful Thursday at the Cold Spring Brewery, Historic Cold Spring Village. The Brewery has graciously waived the meeting fee for not-for-profit organizations to meet and socialize during Thankful Thursdays this winter, and the League is one of the lucky beneficiaries! The Brewery will donate a percentage of the evening's proceeds to help fund the Art League's scholarship program! Members of the public are welcome! As an important part of the evening, a POP-UP ART Show will feature Art League members' work.
